Kenneth Blum, PhD is currently Chairman of the Board and Chief Scientific Officer of LifeGen, Inc. San Diego, California and managing partner of Reward Deficiency Solutions, LLC, San Diego, California. He serves as Senior Scientific Advisor for G & G Holistic Addictions Treatment Center, North Miami Beach, Florida, USA. He was formerly Full Professor of Pharmacology, University of Texas, and San Antonio, Texas for 23 years (retired). He is currently Full Professor of the Department of Psychiatry and McKnight Brain Institute University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville Florida. He served as Research Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Wake forest College of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He serves as Scientific Director, PATH Foundation, NY, New York. He has received numerous awards including NIDA Career Teacher Award; American Chemical Society Speakers Award; Gordon Conference Research Award; Presidential Excellence award (National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse). Dr Blum has authored and edited eleven books and has published over 400 peer reviewed papers. Coined "Brain Reward Cascade [206,000 results in Yahoo]k and Reward Deficiency Syndrome RDS)[266,000 results in Yahoo] and is credited as the lead author in the first association of the Dopamine D2 receptor gene with severe alcoholism (JAMA, 1990). He is considered by many as the father of "Psychiatric Genetics."He serves on 9 editorial boards and is the associate editor on two boards including section editor of Integrative Omics and Applied Biotechnology (IIOAB). He is also executive editor of Journal Genetics and Genetic Syndromes (Omics Group) and is an ad hock reviewer for 40 journals world-wide. He has recently been selected into Sterlings "Who's Who in the World". He is credited with co-discovering the first gene [DOPAMINE D2 RECEPTOR GENE -132,000 results in Yahoo] to associate with not only alcoholism but reward dependence in general. He holds over 20 patents. He is also the father of Neuroadaptagen Amino-Acid Therapy (NAAT) for the recovery field. Dr. Blum's research has been covered by every major newspaper in the world and he has made numerous television appearances. He has been featured in Time, Newsweek, Business, O magazine, Discover Magazine, American Scientist, Economics, among many others. He recently interviewed with John Giordano, well-known for his work on Holistic medicine, on Erskin By Night and has appeared on many radio shows worldwide. In 1984, his textbook " Handbook on Abusable Drugs" was a book of the month selection. His books on "Alcohol and The Addictive Brain " (with James Payne) and Overload (with David Miller) have received high ratings from Amazon. His work has been cited on Allen King, Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC); The NY Science Show, Law & Order, and will be featured in Martha' Stewarts Body and Soul (November). Dr. Bum appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America and Sonja Live to name a few. He has been also featured on the Blow movie DVD on cocaine mechanism of action. His work has received both Silver and Bronze medals from The Natural Products Association in 2006 and 2007. He is included in Wikipedia and has over 816,000 results in Google. He is a consultant for many companies and has been recently appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of Dominion Diagnostics, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Dr Blum is the Senior Scientific Advisor of Electronic Waveform Lab in Huntington Beach, California and has extensively published on electrotherapeutic (H-Wave) modalities for muscle recovery. Dr. Blum has chaired three Gordon Conferences on Alcohol and Psychiatric Genetics. Dr Blum has published in almost every major scientific journal worldwide-: Science; Lancet; Nature; PNAS, JAMA among others. He is actively investigating the role of natural dopamine agonists as an anti craving DNA directed therapeutic target for prevention of relapse.
